KIMBERLY ALEXANDER
CANDIDATE FOR
ECORSE CITY COUNCIL
. WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO RUN FOR THIS POSITION?
I decided to run for a position on the Ecorse City Council to bring diversity; being born and reared, in Ecorse as a woman of color. I am dedicated to ensuring that all issues are addressed on a diverse platform while moving our city forward.
2. WHAT EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU HAVE THAT MAKES YOU QUALIFIED FOR THIS POSITION?.
I have twenty-two year's experience working in the Financial Services industry. My work in risk and compliance provides me with the critical eye to understand and navigate us through challenging times.
3. WHAT DO YOU SEE AS TWO OF THE BIGGEST PROBLEMS FACING THE PEOPLE THAT YOU WANT TO SERVE?
One of the areas of concern for me is the Jefferson Avenue corridor which is our 'downtown.' My remedy for this is me taking an active role in development with the City of Ecorse's Downtown Development Authority, which is currently in the works which will bringing vibrancy back to Jefferson Avenue. The second issue would be working with our mayor in aims to acquire additional financial resources to repair the infrastructure of the water and sewage issues facing our city's residents.
4. WHAT ORGANIZATIONS ARE YOU INVOLVED IN?
Organizations that I engage with are Junior Achievement of southeastern Michigan which teaches and promotes financial literacy to our youth. I have also been a volunteer at Ecorse Community High School. Additionally I volunteer with Crossroads of Michigan where I prepare and serve meals on a regular basis.
5. WHERE DID YOU GO TO HIGH SCHOOL? COLLEGE?
I am proud graduate of Ecorse High School thereafter earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University.
6. WHY SHOULD PEOPLE VOTE FOR YOU?
The reason you should vote for me is that I am a lifelong resident of the city of Ecorse and I value my city. I took the steps necessary because I want to actively engage in continuing to move the city of Ecorse forward so that we appeal to new future residents and businesses that want to come into our community and contribute to Ecorse's growth and progression.
