The Wait is Over! O'Briens Market is Open

The wait is over. O'Briens Market is open to the public.

A fire closed the doors of the largest grocery store in Ecorse back in 2013. Over the years, the community saw things happening and then nothing. Then things were happening and then nothing. But now the store is open and it is bigger and better than before.

Cheryl Starr, who lives in Ecorse says that 'I am glad they are open. I was a customer of the old O'Briens and I was just waiting for them to open."

The grocery store opened to the public on Friday, January 15th after the Ecorse Mayor and City Council voted to approve their business license during council meeting on January 12.

Jimmy, the Director of Operations wants the community to know that, 'We are back in business and ready to serve the community." The original store was 13,000 square ft but the new store is just shy of 20,000 square ft. It carries a full line of grocery products, some household items and will soon offer hot foods.

Mayor Lamar Tidwell said, "The opening of O'Briens Market is a major asset to the Ecorse community.

They have rehired some of the former employees and looking to hire more people from the community. People can apply online at http://www.obriensmarket.net. The website also list any specials that they are offering.
