ROMULUS – The Greater Romulus Chamber of Commerce (GRCC) is holding a new
event they're calling the "Black-Owned Business and Vendor Showcase" on February 26, 2022.
The Showcase is free to attend and open to the public. It will be held at the City Event Centre located at 37451 Ecorse Road in Romulus. The City Event Centre is a member of the Romulus Chamber and owned by Rasaq Gbadamosi, a native of Nigeria. The event is sponsored by the Telegram Newspaper who is also a member of the Chamber. The Telegram Newspaper is a Black Owned Business whose owner is Gina Wilson Steward.
The Black-Owned Business and Vendor Showcase is the newest offering from the
GRCC's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Task Force. The Task Force held an "Intro to DEI" event last fall and is also working on a Women in Business Panel Discussion for March.
Jazmine Danci, Executive Director for the GRCC, says that, currently, about 10% of the GRCC's members are black-owned businesses, but they are hoping to see that increase. "Black and other minority-owned businesses are an important part of the economy. We hope the Showcase will bring together new consumers and buyers, strengthening the whole community," Danci said.
"We are excited that all of the Vendor Tables have been reserved."
Mark your calendar for February 26th and stop by the Black Owned Business Showcase between 2:00pm - 6:00pm to learn about the businesses in the Romulus area.
