Western Wayne County NAACP Scholarship Deadline Extended until May 1st

The Western Wayne County Branch of the NAACP is reminding seniors that there is still time to apply for the 2022 scholarships.

This year they will award four (4) scholarships to deserving high school graduates selected from the 24 cities that they serve. The criteria for consideration:

* Graduating senior with a cumulative 2.5 or higher GPA

* A resident of one of the 24 cities located in the WWC NAACP jurisdiction

* A college, community college, or trade school acceptance letter

* Two letters of recommendation: school and community (one from each)

* A minimum 500 word "combined" personal statement and essay on the following topic:

If you were the President of the NAACP, what are the top 3 concerns that you would address and try to improve? State your reasons why in a typed minimum 500 word combined personal statement and essay.

2022 Scholarship Award Amounts:

Two $1,000 scholarships to students attending a 4 year college or university

Two $500 scholarships to students attending a 2 or 4 year program (college or trade school)

All scholarship applications and supporting documents must be postmarked by May 1, 2022.

Late and incomplete applications, as well as essays that do not address the topic or adhere to the guidelines, will not be considered for a scholarship award.
