This Woman Is an Inspiration: Nadia Fedel-Bazzi

As a young child we often fantasize about life as an adult. Daydreaming about our fairytale wedding, the names of our future children and the kind of man/woman we wish to be. As a child, Mrs. Nadia Fedel-Bazzi envisioned life as a psychologist. In hindsight she didn't really know what becoming a psychologist would entail. However, she knew that she'd be able to help people and that fulfilled her childhood self.

Later in life Fadel-Bazzi realized that becoming a psychologist wasn't her passion. While studying for her Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Detroit Mercy Law School her bubbly and charismatic nature caused her to flourish socially. She took great pleasure in meeting new people and building relationships. Although Fadel-Bazzi loved the friendships and camaraderie she was shown, her relationship with her now Husband Bill Bazzi surpassed the others. Bill and Nadia went on to get married and have a son. Soon, she found herself at a crossroads. She loved law but began to realize that her social abilities were a skill she could utilize. With that realization she earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan-Dearborn, with a major in Corporate Communication/Public Relations, and minors in Philosophy and Hispanic Studies.

Nadia and her entire family were so proud of her for earning another degree. However, her mother was joyful that she remained true to herself and kind like she had always taught her. Fadel- Bazzi thanks her mother heavily for the woman she is today saying "My mother inspired me to be the woman I am today. Despite facing adversity and not being able to complete her own studies, she continues to persevere and inspire me, and has taught me many life lessons." Her close relationship with her mother acted as a blueprint for the relationship she has with her son. She treasures her son and often refers to him as her motivation.

This brings Nadia comfort because being a working mom is a very challenging thing to do. Nadia stated that "Although I have faced various obstacles at different points in life, one of the most difficult was finding a balance while in law school, spending quality time with my son and family, managing my home and other personal responsibilities, while navigating a plan for what's to come after graduation. Although my path was not exactly as I had planned, the outcome was challenging yet rewarding." Which is why she hopes to normalize taking breaks for yourself, accepting the help of others, and scaling back to focus on main priorities.

You can't always be a perfect person 100% of the time. Everyone makes mistakes, even Nadia, but her rule of thumb is: Never Regret. There are things she wishes she could've done differently but difficult experiences helped shape me as a professional and have allowed me to better understand people, personalities, and situations. This wisdom is what drives Fadel-Bazzi's compassion even in the face of adversity. In professional settings she learned to seek positions that have inclusive environments, and view diversity of thought, experience, and backgrounds as an attribute to the respective business model.

It is very important to Mrs. Nadia Fadel-Bazzi to allow her core values to influence the decision she makes, professionally and non-professionally speaking. If Fadel-Bazzi had allowed someone to press their misogynistic and or negative opinions onto her lifestyle she wouldn't be the success she is today. This is why she encourages young girls to believe that, "You can do it all if you choose, however, it is up to you to define your respective role in each position or project which you embark on." Words are power but only you have the choice to allow a conversation with anyone to become something that hinders you, or something that takes you to the next level. Mrs. Fadel-Bazzi is a gleaming example of that.
