Detroit - -The American Basketball Hall of Fame announced the list of 40 eligible candidates for the Class of 2022 today. The 2022 class will be the 4th class to be inducted into the American Basketball Hall of Fame. The HOF has inducted 50 players into the HOF from the likes of former Boston Celtics Sam Jones, Harlem Globetrotter Legend Meadowlark Lemon, to the late great Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe Bryant.
The goal of the American Basketball Hall of Fame is to honor the history of basketball on all levels from the High School to College Players/Coaches, Barnstorming Teams, Playground Legends, and the CBA, ABA, WNBA, NBA and Contributors that have made an impact on the game of basketball. Robinson's other goal is to build a state-of-the-art basketball 75,000 sq. ft. facility basketball courts, classrooms, etc.. along with the hall of fame and museum in the city of Detroit. Robinson said that the city of Detroit has always been a hot-bed for basketball on all levels just like New York City, Robinson added that he and his board has found the location to build the project and are in talks with a major developer, the plan is to make an announcement before the end of the summer.
10 of 40 finalists for the Class of 2022 will be announced on June 8, 2022, and the entire Class of 2022 will be unveiled at a press conference. Basketball Hall of Fame Weekend Enshrinement and Festivities will take place at the Charles H. Wright African-American Museum in Detroit, Michigan, which will be held on Sunday October 23, 2022.
