Open Letter to Political Candidates for the November Election, the Candidates Who Ran In the August Primary & Their Media Coordinators

I get about three emails a day from candidates running for office from all across the nation for national, state and local offices with requests for donations. I get these requests relentlessly.

I never get an accounting, nor how the issues relate to me locally, or anyone I know, or how to hold a discussion about the issues at any level of government.

Nor do I ever hear about your underwriting overtures or read about relevant local issues in the black media I read and write for on a regular basis.

So I thought I'd send you an open letter about spending some of your time and money communicating through black media including:

I am suggesting that you contact them to open a discussion about spending $10,000 with each of them for a collective total of $80,000. a very modest investment, just to get started, but much larger than you spent in the primary.

Black voters comprise about 14% of Michigan's population, 38% of Wayne County's, and 77% of Detroit's, with voter registrations that reflect those numbers.

We would appreciate your acquaintance with and utilization of your focused messages to us that show you understand our needs and interests.

It's not that hard; we're online. We've been around for a while. You've just overlooked us. That's why Hillary lost. There's still time. Let's correct that.

To get started, please call Beverly Smith, editor, Detroit Smart Pages 313-268-3523

Teams still win. One hand washes the other.
