Supermajority proved that Women turned out to protect our democracy

"After more than 1 million doors knocked, texts sent, and calls made by Supermajority, women in Michigan sent a message loud and clear: Our vote is one of the most critical tools we have to make real change on issues that affect all of us, and we will continue to use it.

"Supermajority celebrates that women in Michigan showed up, and abortion access will be enshrined in Michigan's state constitution. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Attorney General Dana Nessel, and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson-candidates who all support the Majority Rules-were reelected.

"Women are tired from holding our families and communities together, yet we turned out to protect democracy once again.

"Supermajority's team of organizers in Michigan set out to talk to young women of color who were infrequent voters-these women held the power to vote for candidates who will restore and expand our freedoms, and vote out those who look to restrict and control our futures-and we did just that. The counties where Supermajority worked most extensively - Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Genesse - experienced dramatic shifts in voter demographics.

"Michigan women voters showed us what's possible when we work together and vote together, and today's victories are just the beginning. We will continue to remind elected leaders who claim to represent us that they should never ignore or dismiss our power."

Tashawna Gill, Michigan state program manager for Supermajority, who led a group of organizers and volunteers in Michigan that reached out more than 1 million times to voters via phone, text and door-knocks.

Supermajority's GOTV efforts focused exclusively on young women of color who were infrequent voters – and who may have made the difference here in Michigan.
