Western Wayne County NAACP to hold General Membership Meeting on March 13th

1st In-Person meeting since the Pandemic

Say goodbye to ZOOM meetings for now. The Executive Committee of the Western Wayne County NAACP Branch is inviting the community to their first In-Person General Membership meeting since 2020. The meeting will be held at Christian Faith Ministries located at 27500 Marquette in Garden City.

They are looking forward to seeing people from the community and members that they haven't seen in a few years. The meeting will begin at 7:00pm, so come a little early to fellowship before the meeting begins.

The speaker for the meeting will be Anthony Lewis, Director of Community Engagement for the Michigan Department of Civil Rights. Although the Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964, there are still many people that don't know what their rights are. If you are one of those people or you want to share your knowledge with others, this is the place for you.

During the meeting you will also have an opportunity to meet the new leadership team. The branch held their election in October 2022. The officers that will lead the branch from 2023 to 2024 are;

The branch is already planning for two events that will take place later this year. Mark your calendar to SAVE THE DATES: Golf Outing - Taylor Meadows Golf Course - Sat., July 1, 2023 and Freedom Fund Dinner – SoHo Grand Banquet and Event Center - Sun. October 15, 2023

The NAACP Western Wayne County Branch was chartered in June 1947 as the Inkster Branch.

The branch represents 24 cities and townships which include; Allen Park, Belleville, Brownstown, Canton, Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Ecorse, Garden City, Inkster, Lincoln Park, Livonia, Melvindale, New Boston, Northville, Plymouth, Redford, River Rouge, Romulus, Sumpter, Taylor, Van Buren Township, Wayne, Westland and Wyandotte.

Just a reminder to parents and students that the deadline to submit a scholarship application is April 1, 2023. Seniors who attend a school in the coverage area of Western Wayne County are encouraged to apply for one of the scholarships.
