"Books & Bling II Pop-Up Shop to highlight local self published authors."

DETROIT, MI, Sunday, April 23, 2023 - Rollercade Detroit, 2130 S. Schaefer Hwy, Detroit, MI 48217 from 11am - 5pm. More than 12 self published books and their authors will be present at a pop-up shop designed to help give local self published authors exposure and a platform.

Bringing authors and amazing vendors together for an epic occasion is the goal of BOOKS & BLING II! The event encourages literacy, higher thought and the sharing of stories all while being able to shop and support local small businesses. Janine Folks, who self published more than 10 of her own books, wanted to do something to help other self published authors get their books circulating and in the hands of readers. "I thought bringing these writers together to promote reading would encourage literacy, and even encourage others to take the leap and publish to share their stories."

This is a great opportunity to add to your library. There will be a used books table. Stock up. Share knowledge. Encourage reading. Encourage writing. Gift a book. Support local vendors. The first 100 shoppers will receive a free tote bag.

Janine wanted this to be about more than books. This is also an opportunity for local entrepreneurs who don't have a brick and mortar space for their products to showcase their businesses as well. "I want people to be able to buy nice things that they like, like cool apparel and accessories. We added health conscious elements like a book on Intermittent Fasting written by Detroiter, Tracey Mack and Vonna's Tonics nutrient packed drinks. We are being big on self care. You can get cakes and sweets, get outfitted, pick up some art, skin care, hair care, get jewelry and bedazzled, great reads and so much more.

Janine (Get The Pen), with the support of local authors and vendors, is trying to pull off something meaningful. They are promoting literacy. Styling and creativity are celebrated. Enjoyment is encouraged. Self care is essential. They hope you are curious enough to come experience what they have put together and see how these authors are sharing their stories, wisdom and insight and a plethora of entrepreneurs who are courageous enough to pursue their passion and turn it into business.

The gathering of nearly 30 self published authors and vendors under one roof is just in time for the kick off of Mother's Day and the warming weather season.

The first Books and Bling was very successful in November 2022. Janine hopes to make this a semi-annual event.
