Dearborn Heights

The Dearborn Heights Public Library will host a 60th Anniversary Holiday Open House on Thursday, December 5 at the John F. Kennedy Jr. Library, located at 24602 Van Born Road. The event will run all day and activities will include a walk-through holiday tree village, giveaways, raffles, and crafts. Also featured will be a Mobile Vaccine Clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., a Hot Chocolate Dessert Bar from 5 to 7:30 p.m. a visit from Santa from 6 to 7 p.m., and more. Garden City

The Annual Garden City DDA Santaland Parade will take place on Saturday, November 30 at 10 a.m. along Middlebelt Road, north of Ford Road.

On Saturday, December 7, the Straight Farmhouse will host an evening of holiday music with the Silver Strings Dulcimer Society performing Christmas Carols. The concert will begin at 7 p .m. at the Historic Oddfellows Hall, then attendees will walk over to the Straight Farmhouse to celebrate and old-fashioned Christmas with refreshments. Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased at sfh.ludus.com or at the Farmhouse during regular hours on Wednesdays and Saturdays from noon to 3 p.m. The Straight Farmhouse is located at 6221 Merriman Road. Livonia

The Annual Civic Park Senior Center Holiday Craft Show will take place on Friday, December 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include baked goods, a quilt raffle, and a share the wealth drawing. No admission will be charged. The Civic Park Senior Center is located at 15218 Farmington Road at Five Mile Road.

River Rouge

The River Rouge City Council will meet on Tuesday, December 3 beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Court Room at City Hall, located at 10600 W. Jefferson.

Westland

On Tuesday, December 3 the Jefferson Barns Community Vitality Center will host a Holiday Tree Lighting from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. The event will include crafts, hot cocoa, and a visit from Santa Claus. The Jefferson Barnes Center is located at 32150 Dorsey, west of Merriman Road.

Lutheran High School will host its Annual Winter Wonderland Craft Show on Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7. Hours both days will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission will be $2. More than 100 juried exhibitors will be on hand for your Christmas shopping along with holiday music, flower sale, face painting, and a coat check. Lutheran High School is located at 33300 Cowan Road.

Wayne County

Small Business Saturday is November 30. Celebrate and support small businesses in your local community by checking out small, locally-run businesses in southeast Michigan as you consider your holiday shopping list.

The Wayne County Lightfest in Hines Drive will continue through December 24 Wednesday through Sunday only from 6 to 10 p.m. Entry fees are $5 for a car, $20 for commercial van/RV/limo, $25 for mini-bus, and $50 for a large bus. Cash only. The entrance to the Lightfest is Merriman Road, between Ann Arbor Trail and Warren Road.
