The Wayne Mobile Health Unit will be at Al-Huda Islamic Association on Saturday, October 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Services provided will include blood pressure screening, diabetes, cholesterol, and kidney function screening, and influenza vaccinations. Insurance is not required but if you have insurance bring your card so they can bill for vaccines. Those without insurance will receive vaccines at no cost. If you have ID please bring that as well. Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church operates the Helping Hand Food Pantry the first and third Wednesday each month. The pantry is open to anyone in the community from 9:30 a.m. to noon and will be available on Wednesday, November 6. A picture ID is required and only one member per address is eligible for food assistance. Participants may receive food once every other month. First time participants should arrive before 11:30 a.m. Food pantry availability may change due to weather or a church event so call ahead at 313-563-4800. Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church is located at 24110 Cherry Hill, just west of Telegraph. Donations to the food pantry are welcome.

The Ecorse City Council will meet Tuesday, October 29 beginning at 7:30 p.m. City Council meetings are held in the Council Chambers of the Albert B. Buday Civic Center, located at 3869 W. Jefferson Ave.

The Lincoln Park City Council will meet on Monday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the John A. Aloisi Council Chambers located on the second floor of Lincoln Park City Hall, 1355 Southfield. The Downriver Alano Club hosts a Narcotics Anonymous meeting on Saturday evenings at 9 p.m. at 2060 Council Avenue. This meeting is closed format, meaning it is only for those identify themselves as addicts. Open format Narcotics Anonymous meetings are held on Sundays from 9 to 10 p.m. This meeting is open format meaning all are welcome. To find an NA meeting near you, call 800-913-2720.
River Rouge
The city of River Rouge will have transportation available for residents during early voting and on Election Day. Early voting will take place at City Hall on the second floor from October 26 through November 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Election Day is November 5 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you need transportation to vote call Olive Roberts at the Senior Activity Center at 313-842-3360.
Wayne
Northwest Wayne Face Addiction Now (FAN)--formerly Families Against Narcotics-- will host a public forum on Monday, November 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the HYPE Recreation Center, located at 4635 Howe Road. The topic of discussion will be The Importance of Service. There will be a panel of persons in recovery, family members, and a clinical therapist discussing how the practice of service work and volunteerism can enhance well-being by providing support to long-term recovery. The evening will include personal stories and an opportunity to connect with others. The event is free and open to everyone. Free Narcan Training will take place prior to the meeting at 5:30.
Wyandotte
Gleaners Community Food Bank will bring its mobile drive-thru food distribution to Wyandotte on Friday, November 1 at Yack Arena, located at 3131 3rd Street. Food distribution will take place from 9 to 10:30 a.m. No appointment is necessary.
