The community celebrates Mrs. Claudia's 109th Birthday

What a joy it was to see Mrs. Claudia Williams last week. On February 7, 2024, she celebrated her 109th birthday.

Ms. Claudia, or Granny as she is called by most of the River Rouge and Tri City community really enjoyed her day. She was dressed in pink and was sporting a shimmery crown on her head that was fit for a queen.

When we received the text message from Russell about three weeks before her birthday, we knew that we had to clear our schedule for that day. Between Russell and Vicki Dobbins (the Campbell St. Block Club President, they were not going to let the Telegram miss the big day.

The city announced the parade at the City Council meeting to make sure they had full participation and the residents came out. There were flyers left at people's door and FaceBook post to come celebrate this historic birthday.

Mayor Campbell lead the processional of police cars, fire trucks and community members as she watched on. Even Chanel 4 was on hand to capture this history making event..

See you next year!
