It's Lenten season once again and that means the arrival of Friday Fish Dinners hosted by local churches and church-based organizations. Restaurants in metro Detroit and downriver have all variety of seafood on their menus including Crab Kitchen in Westland, Rogala's Bar and Grill in Garden City, and Scotty Simpson Fish and Chips in Detroit. In Ecorse, St. Andre Bessette Catholic Parish will host a Fish Fry each Friday during Lent from 3:30 to 7 p.m. or until sold out. Dinners will be dine-in or carry-out and will feature baked or fried cod, salmon patties, and shrimp. Side dishes include baked potato, fries, and mac and cheese. In Garden City, St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church will host a Fish Fry each Friday during Lent through March 29 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Dinner options include beer battered haddock, baked haddock and shrimp and include your choice of mashed potatoes or fries, coleslaw, and roll. Dine-in dinners include coffee, tea or milk at no additional charge. Additional sides will be available; prices range from $4 to $13. Carry-out dinners available. The church is located at 31530 Beechwood, west of Merriman Road.
In Livonia, the Monaghan Knights of Columbus offers a fish dinner every Friday through March 29 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Dinner options include fried or baked cod, pierogi, mac and cheese, and pizza. Dine in or carry-out. Prices range from $2 to $13 with a senior discount available. Monaghan Knights of Columbus is located at 19801 Farmington Road, between Seven and Eight Mile Roads.
In Redford, Our Lady of Loretto Parish offers three main meal dishes featuring Orange Roughy, cod, or mac and cheese ranging in price from $6 to $15. Side orders include shrimp or pierogi. Cash only please and the format is drive-thru only and no call-ahead option. Dinners can be picked up between 4 and 6:30 p.m. Our Lady of Loretto is located at 17116 Olympia, just north of Six Mile Road and east of Beech Daly Road.
In Southgate, St. Pius X Catholic Church offers a fish dinner every Friday through March 22 from 4 to 7 p .m in the church's activity center. Dinner options include two or three piece cod dinners, shrimp, and pierogi. A la carte items and dessert also available. Children's menu is also offered. Dine in or carry out. Prices range from $9 to $15. Call ahead for carry out at 734-486-7048. St. Pius X Church is located at 14101 Superior St.
In Wyandotte, Our Lady of Scapular Church will offer both a dine-in and carry-out fish dinner every Friday during Lent from 3 to 7 p.m. or until sold out. Beer battered cod and shrimp dinners will range from $10 to $14 and include potatoes, coleslaw, and roll. Pierogi will be available along with Polish Dill Pickle Soup. Also in Wyandotte, the Knights of Columbus 1802 will host a Fish Fry every Friday during Lent from 4 to 8 p.m. or until sold out. Both dine-in and carry-out are available. Fish dinners are $14 and include your choice of cod, perch, or shrimp, plus fries, coleslaw, and dinner roll. Additional sides are available including pierogi.
