Today the Telegram Newspaper is shining the community spotlight on the Deputy City Clerk of Romulus. This young man had been working for a position like this for quite some time. It didn't just happen for him overnight but his tenacity and his willingness to learn and to take on new tasks is what made the opportunity available to him.

In case you aren't aware, the seat of the Deputy City Clerk is appointed by the City Clerk. The role of this position is to be the gatekeeper to the clerk. D'Sjonaun Hockenhull, told the Telegram News that as the Deputy City Clerk, he handles tasks to help alleviate and to lighten the work load of the City Clerk.

At the young age of 34, D'Sjonaun Hockenhull, Deputy City Clerk, holds a position where the median average age of others in the same position, are middle age, about 48 years of age. However, you should not call into questions his abilities simply because of his age! Here are some facts about him.

- Been in this role since, September 2020

- Previous experience with working at 34th District Court for 13 years in various departments.

- Started at the court as a High School Senior, while taking a CO-OP.

- Washtenaw Community College, 2016

- Transferred to Eastern Michigan University, 2018.

With having any position or career, there is always something that you learn that other people on the job may not have had the privilege to learn and to share with others. When speaking with the Deputy City Clerk, he was asked the question, "What advice can you give to the next generation that may want to pursue a career in public service.?" His response was to, "Find your why and always remember your why. You are dealing with people who have expectations at times due to their mentality of entitlement and the fact that they pay taxes. You are here to make things efficient and stay out of the noise that goes around." Deputy City Clerk, reiterated the fact to "Find your why and hold on to it."

The Deputy City Clerk of Romulus, D'Sjonaun Hockenhull is an outstanding and an amazing young man. He truly is a servant to the city's residents. It brings him joy to serve and to help others. He let it be known that, he is a man of faith and because of that, it's his belief that keeps him grounded and level-headed. He is also understanding of others and shows empathy towards them because he says, "Everyone deserves help or they're looking for help."
