City of Ecorse Hosts Second Annual Downriver MotorCity Jazz Series at John Dingell Riverfront Park

Ecorse, MI – May 21, 2024 –- The City of Ecorse is excited to announce the return of the highly anticipated second annual Downriver MotorCity Jazz Series, taking place every Saturday from June 1st to July 6th at the beautiful John Dingell Riverfront Park, 4459 West Jefferson. This free community event promises an exceptional fusion of world-class music, local culture, and summer fun along the scenic Detroit River.

The Downriver MotorCity Jazz Series is a key element of the city's efforts to boost community engagement and promote Ecorse's outstanding waterfront assets. As Ecorse undergoes major transformations in beautification and development, the jazz series exemplifies the city's commitment to showcasing its unique and vibrant identity.

Featured Performances:

June 1: Kick off the series with the Alex Anest Trio featuring Gayelynn McKinney and Jim Alfredson, offering smooth jazz and soulful rhythms.

June 8: Enjoy Circle of Sound and special guest Pistol Pete, blending contemporary jazz with innovative improvisation.

June 15: Celebrate Juneteenth weekend with special performances alongside Duane Parham's captivating music, showcasing his unique style and undeniable talent.

June 22: Experience renowned Trumpeter Allen Denard's dynamic performance, which promises to mesmerize audiences.

June 29: Ivan Benning and Friends bring an eclectic fusion of jazz, funk, and soul for a memorable evening.

July 6: The grand finale features legendary Tim Bowman and the Detroit RSVP All-Stars, led by Michael Hicks.

On July 6th, the event concludes with the Ecorse Fireworks night at dusk, a spectacular display illuminating the Detroit River and providing a dazzling end to the series.

In addition to the outstanding musical performances, attendees can engage with local community organizations and participate in voter registration efforts led by the Western Wayne County NAACP and Black Man Vote Campaign.

The Downriver MotorCity Jazz Series is supported by host sponsor the City of Ecorse, and a range of sponsors including the Community Youth Empowerment Foundation, Western Wayne County NAACP, DTE Foundation, Downriver Community Credit Union, Marathon, Telegram News, The Roller Cade, Black Man Vote, and Ecorse Public Schools.
