Trump rally in Michigan!

My fellow journalist and I ventured in the world of Trump supporters in search of knowledge. We attended a Donald Trump presidential rally!

The rally was held at Macomb Community College in Warren, Michigan. Driving along the main road to campus, residents perched outside their homes with flags and signs totting their support. It began at 6 p.m. and early arrival was advised. Those who arrived between 3 - 4 p.m. were able to attend the inside of the closed rally venue.

Once we arrived, security directed us to some parking spaces. Security was at a high level, of course. Michigan State police, Macomb County police and other local municipalities officers voluntarily assisted, along with Secret Service as well.

We arrived around 6 p.m. and found relatively close parking. Plenty of folks were leaving after not getting inside the building. It was sweater weather so; it was understandable why some people did not want to stay and mingle outside.

There was a caravan of merchandise vendors. Truck, vans, and trailers; tents, chairs and open hatches covered a row of parking spots. Hats, T-shirts, stuffed ducks and more were all for sale. Many of the vendors follow the rally from city to city, state to state making major coins and connections. Some vendors were on wheels weaving in and out spaces with their wagon or cart.

Small crowds here and there spread throughout the general area of the rally. The largest gathering existed outside the building in which the speeches were held. The people were friendly but only a couple of people would speak on record as to why they support Trump.

"He's about Americans and he's about us as in USA," said Michael Wilson. He and his buddies are big supporters and were hanging out at the rally socializing. "He is all about USA first," said Wilson. He encourages everybody to look beyond channel 2, 4 and 7 for the news.

Linda, who drove an hour away to attend is in support, "Because he has no agenda. He just believes in what he is trying to do, to save our country." She explains that Trump has money and fame, he could play golf all day. "There's no earthly reasons for him to want to be shot at, to be criticized, to be talked about, to be lied about, expect for that he really wants to believe he can save this country."

The outside flock did get to see former president Trump arrive to the venue. Screams, claps and cheers broke as the fleet of vehicles pulled to a side entry. Trump supporters like what he embodies, values, and represent. Even if he is a felon as some attendees demonstratively wore on shirts, "I'm voting for the felon."

Leaving the event was easy, we did not stay until the end and the caravan vendors were packing up, so we did not run into heavy traffic. All but one exit was closed creating one way out of the lot.

Unison and community was seen among the supporters. The important take away is to get informed and exercise your right to vote.

May the best candidate win!
