Be Your Own Cheerleader has Grand Opening of New Facility

Be your own cheerleader (BYOC), celebrate the grand opening of the company's very own gym! On October 24, 2024, in Livonia, Michigan, family, friends, clients and community members gathered in honor of Camille Nimmons and the BYOC family gym ribbon cutting. There were tears, cheers and a dream come true.

Before the ceremony formally started, current client Tamiya Trust shares, "My experience with BYOC is that I wasn't really in tune with working out, so Camille really taught me how to work out." Trust has completed 15 5k's this year and is training for a half marathon she plans to do next year. "I think it will be a good accomplishment and I owe it all to her," she says.

Redford Nutrition was on sight serving delicious drinks. The entry way was beautifully decorated with shades of pink balloon arch by Polished and Prime, one of BYOC members. The crowd grew as the time was nearing to 6 p.m. and flowers on flowers on flowers filled the scene.

As Camille, warmly known as Coach Cam or Cam, came out cheers burst, and phones came out taking plenty of pictures and videos. The love vibrated throughout the area. The formal procedure begins.

Raquel Harrington host for the night states, "This an inclusive gym so many people started their fitness journey here because they received a lot of confidence, a lot of women feel comfortable here because it's not only a minority and women led gym but, it's a community on top of that, a social club it you will." The evidence seen in this moment as those assembling, hugged each other, shrilled at the sight of each other, and laughed tenderly in conversation.

"An extraordinary moment for an extraordinary person," says Harrington. It was all smiles. Two clients who have been with Cam since she started training sessions, and a member of the Michigan Black Business Alias give testimony to Camille's character and the business she has built.

"I'm excited to be here to support Cam during this time of her grand opening," Bre McKamie, of Michigan Black Business Alias, says, "I understand your journey of even finding and solidifying the right location for this business." She witnesses Cam's hard work during a 12-week program called Capital Connect. The program helps in aiding, building, and sustaining black owed businesses. "I'm excited on behalf of Michigan Black Business Alias to say congratulations and we are excited to see where you grow," says McKamie.

Kevin Tolbert follows up saying "What I noticed about her and the style that she's doing is that it's a community." Tolbert adds the prominence of community at this gym just like the host. He speaks on about Cam's, "She doesn't talk about her dreams she just starts doing them and she figures it our along the way." Apparently, at twenty-something she is a whole, building included businesswomen making great strides.

"It's a very caring place, it's a very welcoming place, it's a very open place," says Tolbert. "You become a better person, and you interact with more people just like that and you really feel good about being here," he adds.

Original client Chelsea Ray calls Camille "petal to the metal." Ray explains that this opening has been two to three years in the making and reiterates, "[Camille] don't need a plan; she just needs to know what she needs to do, and she comes through." Short and sweet Ray physically and figuratively gives Cam her flowers expressing, "I am giving you your flowers today because I am so happy for you and this the first of many gyms because we're almost growing this out already." Indeed, the grand opening full of clients past, present and future filled the space.

Cupcakes and cider were served while you viewed the new gym. The gym has two rooms. One large area for mat and free weights exercises. Another room with exercise machines. There is a long hallway for storing jackets and shoes and a bathroom. A great space and location for the BYOC.

Camille closed out the ceremony declaring, "Thanks everybody for coming today and just for always supporting me through this entire journey." Most if not all of Cam clients were aware of her goal. They remained loyal and faithful. Tolbert summarizes the grand event and location as "Symbolic of saying thank you for all you've put into us to give back to you."

At BYOC Cam, give attention to detail and has a way of making every client feel special and seen. Furthermore, Cam is great at advertising and sharing her clients' work and efforts amongst the group. The loyal and faithful community, mixed with positivity and encouragement keeps the business growing.

Janelle Wells tells, "Since joining BYOC, I feel like I've become more confident, I believe in myself mor and it's just a great community and I love it!" She adds, "I don't ever want to stop coming here!"
