Former President Barack Obama & Rapper Eminem Rallied in Detroit to Secure the Vote

The Race to the White House has only a few days left, before votes are counted. Former President Barack Obama, was in town last Tuesday, making an appearance at Huntington Place in Downtown Detroit, for the Harris-Walz rally. His stop in Detroit, marked a total of 5 stops for the Harris-Walz campaign.

The iconic rapper, Eminem took to the stage to introduce the 44th President. Eminem commented before leaving the stage, "Going into this election, the spotlight is on us more than ever...And I think it's important to use your voice. So, I'm encouraging everyone to go out and vote, please," he said. In a room with standing room only, Eminem was not afraid to share his views and support for Vice President Kamala Harris as president.

Former President Obama, spoke to thousands of people that night. He said, "I am here today for a very important reason, to ask you to vote for your congressman, Shri Thanedar, for your next senator, Ellisa Slotkin...For the next president of the United States, Kamala Harris" He continued, by pointing out the chaos and violence that occurred during the 2020 election by former President Donald Trump. If you recall, the 2020 election resulted in, mail ballots being counted on site of Huntington Place, due to Trump's supporters. They created such a noise, that doubt and concern was centered around the state's election results.

President Obama spoke to those listening in the audience, as a supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris and not just as a past president. His focus that night was on how Michigan carries weight and value in this election. Obama criticized Donald Trump as unfit, citing his most recent incidents such as when Trump opted to hold a 40-minute concert of sorts, instead of taking questions from voters. "If your grandpa was acting like this, you'd be worried," President Obama said. He continued by saying, "This is somebody who wants unchecked power. We do not need to see what an older, loonier Donald Trump looks like with no guard rails. America is ready to turn the page."

Michigan seems to have a laser focus from both presidential candidates and simply put, our voters are at stack. Across the country, there have been 7 states that are identified as swing states. There are 93 electoral votes, that are up for grabs and they are most likely to make the decision, on who ends up winning the seat in the White House. Therefore, the state of Michigan is considered to be a key player in the outcome of this upcoming presidential election. Considering all of the campaign visits and stops made here, it understandable now, why so much time has been spent campaigning, rallying and hosting smaller events on behalf of this ticket.

President Obama ended the night by saying, "Whether this election is making you feel excited or scared or hopeful or frustrated, or anything in between, do not sit back and hope for the best. I know I'm the hope guy, but don't just hope. Get off your couch and vote! Put down your phone and vote! Vote for Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States! Vote for Tim Walz as the next Vice President of the United States! Vote for Elissa Slotkin and this whole incredible Michigan Democratic ticket! Get your friends and family, neighbors, coworkers to do the same...Thank you, Detroit. Thank you, Michigan."

The Former President was joined by other democratic leaders from the State of Michigan like Governor Gretchen Whitmer and current senate candidate, Elissa Slotkin, as this rally came days before early voting started in the city of Detroit.
