Serving Metropolitan Detroit Since 1944
2024 has been a year that seems like only a comic book writer can imagine. Thankfully it's almost over and we can start fresh next time around. I assume most people will appreciate the bombardment of unwanted and excessive advertising coming to an end. It was hard to enjoy life with the hypnotizing, ear splitting commercials of the saga we just left.
Motor City Comic Con has swooped in once again to save the day. Giving the community control of what's in front of them. Setting up shop at the Novi Suburban Showplace for toys, comics, collectibles, oddities, and food. Artists also sat on set for the weekend to sell and showcase their work. The Motor City Comic Con allowed people to be themselves, or step out and try something for the first time. Cosplayers and customers lined the halls of the Suburban Showplace as if they lived there. Transforming Metro Detroit into a living cartoon scene.
Stars from far and wide made appearances at Motor City Comic Con. People and voices behind our favorite media made themselves available for panel discussions. Guests included Star Trek Original, George Takei. Karan Ashley, who played the Yellow Ranger in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Cam Clarke, Townsend Coleman, Barry Gordon, and Rob Paulsen. Who voiced the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, made themselves available for the public.
Motor City Comic Con has become a resource for Black fans of anime, comic books, and cosplay. The event has become a ritual and a pilgrimage in the community building process. People from Ann Arbor, Saginaw, Detroit, Downriver, and even further are willing to make the drive to fellowship. No one forgets their first Motor City Comic Con, and no one forgets who they saw there. The next Motor City Comic Con is May 16th-18th 2025.
