Serving Metropolitan Detroit Since 1944
Wayne County Treasurer Eric R. Sabree proudly hosted the Wayne County Treasurer's Office's 8th Annual Veterans Resource Fair on November 21, 2024, in Southgate, Michigan. The event provided resources for over 300 veterans, their spouses, and families, with more than 85 vendors offering information and support.
This year's fair featured a keynote address by retired U.S. Navy SEAL Chief Petty Officer Mark Ridgeway, who shared insights from his distinguished military career and emphasized the importance of resilience, service, and moving forward. A special highlight of the fair was the pinning ceremony for Vietnam veterans, conducted by Brian Love, Director of the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, to honor their service and sacrifice.
The event was co-hosted by James Perry, Executive Director of the Downriver Community Conference, and Southgate Mayor Joseph Kuspa was in attendance to welcome everyone. Also in attendance was Dearborn Heights Mayor and Marine Veteran Bill Bazzi, Michigan Secretary of State Joslyn Benson and State Senator Stephanie Chang. Attendees also heard video remarks from U.S. Congress members Debbie Dingell, Rashida Tlaib and Shri Thanedar. All joined in recognizing the contributions of veterans and their families.
Treasurer Sabree expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the vendors, sponsors, veterans, and volunteers who made the event a success. "This resource fair reflects our ongoing commitment to honoring and supporting our veterans and their families," Treasurer Sabree said.
Looking ahead, Treasurer Sabree invites veterans and their families to attend the 9th Annual Veterans Resource Fair, set to take place in Detroit in November 2025, promising even more resources and opportunities for those who have served.
Details surrounding the 9th Annual Veterans Resource Fair will be posted on our website, http://www.Treasurer.WayneCounty.com once available.
