Classic Cars Bring Generations Together at Detroit Auto Show

For one some car lovers, the love of classic cars is more than a hobby, it's a way of life.

"I always grew up in a family who likes classic cars, so to me it's just something I always grew up with," shared one enthusiast Naramseen Moesha. The passion for vintage vehicles began as a family tradition, transforming over the years into a shared pursuit that spans the country.

Classic cars aren't just about aesthetics or performance, they're time capsules of history. Vanguard Motors Collector Car is on exhibit at the Detroit Auto Show. On looker, Safari Kelly explains, "It has a little bit of history to it," gesturing to a meticulously restored vehicles parked nearby. Each vehicle tells a story, sparking memories and inspiring admiration.

The love of classic cars takes them beyond their hometown. Vanguard representative Craig Payne shares, "We travel the whole United States searching out the best of the best," describing the companies cross-country journeys to find rare vehicles and attend prominent car shows. One such event is the iconic Autorama, where they connect with fellow collectors and showcase their treasures usually. Being at Detroit Auto Show brings "whole new audiences," says Payne.

The drawing of classic cars is rooted in nostalgia. Payne adds, "It's all about building memories, you know, like dad used to have a '71 pickup truck. Now you can get it and relive those memories." For many attendees, the cars evoke childhood days spent riding in the back seat or tinkering in the garage with loved ones.

These cherished vehicles are more than machines-they're bridges between generations. Whether it's restoring a classic model or simply admiring the craftsmanship, the world of classic cars offers a unique way to honor the past while creating lasting memories for the future.

Head down to Huntington Place to see for yourself. Detroit Auto Show tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $10 for kids under 12. Children two years and younger are free. Family passes are available, $50 allows two adults and three kids. The final day of the show is Jan. 20 and features special programming for Martin Luther King Jr.Day.
