The World's First Revolutionary FDA Approved Innovative Radiofrequency Treatment Available to Cancer Patients by Karmanos Cancer Institute Physicians

There is hope for those living with liver cancer! New developments in the world of cancer treatment have taken place for individuals. The newly approved radiofrequency treatment is being prescribed by Karmanos Cancer Institute physicians. Located in Detroit, the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, the largest provider of cancer care and research in Michigan has announced the new TheraBionic P1 Device. It is an at-home treatment that is now available to treat advanced liver cancer.

The TheraBionic P1 device is its name and it is a hand-held portable device that produces low levels of 27.12 MHz radiofrequency electromagnetic fields to be exact. According to Karmanos Cancer Institute, this small device delivers low levels of radiofrequency electromagnetic fields throughout the patient's body. The fields then block the growth of tumor cells without affecting healthy tissue.

As the first institution worldwide, Karmanos, is the first of its kind to be able to prescribe this treatment to patients. Now who can seek out this type of treatment and is eligible? Patients have to be 18 years of age or older. From there, you must have failed first and second-line therapy. "This is new treatment offers additional hope, extended life and minimal side effects to patients with incurable cancer," said Dr. Boris Pasche, President and CEO of Karmanos and co-inventor of the TheraBionic P1 Device.

Dr. Wasif Saif, Director of Phase 1 Clinical Trials Multidisciplinary Team, Co-Director Gastrointestinal and Neuroendocrine Multidisciplinary Team and Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University at the Karmanos Cancer Institute. During an interview with the Telegram Newspaper, when asked, "What does this treatment mean for patients?", he responded and stated, "So I think, to treat patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), is a challenge because you're not only treating cancer, you are dealing with a patient with liver function. Unfortunately, patients with liver cancer do have issues with their liver functions and it doesn't allow them to qualify to receive other therapies. The unique thing about this revolutionary device, is that is not chemo or immune-therapy. Which means you don't have to come to the clinic, you don't have something to metabolize through your liver. Here you are not dealing with all the side effects of chemotherapy like hair loss or blood counts drop!"

Many who deal with your average therapies have many different challenges. The biggest one can be the quality of life. This first ever FDA-Approved treatment can potentially improve the quality of life, because patients are able to spend more time at-home and/or with their family and friends. Drs. Anthony Shields, M. Najeeb Al Hallak, Boris C. Pasche and Wasif Saif, are the group of physicians that are the driving forces of the remarkable new FDA-Approved treatment therapy.

This is exciting and ground-breaking information. According to the American Cancer Society, liver cancer diagnoses have been on the rise since 1980, with rate tripling and death rates doubling.
